I use a program called V2F to make my online videos. It works quite well.
Did you look at the various export presets in AME? There are several built specifically for web that are all setup and ready to roll.
Ill have a look at the V2F. I tried a ton of combinations and presets in AME but it seems the quality really goes down when the file size goes down.
Is MP4 a good standard to use or is mov or another format best?
Thanks for the replies!
OK through trial and error I found that setting the FPS to 10 instead of 29 or 30 helps reduced the file size even though the estimated size was showing higher.
So my settings are :
10 frames per second
VBR 2 pass .5 and 4MB
Audio is 128 Medium
I think I am actually going to use flash to play the movie and overlap it with Vector transitions and buttons like email links.
Any other suggestions are much appreciated.
Have you tried the flash presets if this is for a web flash app?
Two biggest contributers to file size are frame size and frame rate. The smaller you can tolerate either one, the easier to get a smaller file size.
I did try some flash presets but the file size seemed to be a little bigger. I guess since ill be using flash I might as well just encode it as f4v.
Dreamweaver and Flash are what I use to make internet optimized media. You can export a full movie with good quality h264 then put it in one of those programs and it does a very good job with flash and stills.
