Premiere Pro has encountered an error.

      Hi,

I'm trying to run Premiere Pro CS4 and am getting this error---"Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
      [..\..\Src\EdtitingModeFactory.cpp-1010]"

With a button to continue--Upon continuing the program crashes..

Any clue as to what this means or how to resolve?

      Thanks,

that's it--I mean those are all the details I have--Im pretty sure I tested that the program was running upon first installing the CS4 suite, but today was going to be the first time I was planning to use it and because of the aforementioned error I cant.

I did a search of my machine and cant even locate where such files exist--I found a number of files with the .cpp extension, but it only looks like there is one file which is connected with the CS4 suite proper--that being SampleLib.cpp--

          I didn't locate any file named "EditingModeFactory.cpp"

          Thanks

                Thanks Millaard,

Im a noob and a boob and probably a few more things without a b on the end. I didn't realize there were so many rules for posting a question on this site, so for that I apologize.
That's all the info I have though, explained as clearly and concisely(save for the last post)as I am able to explain it.

I don't where that cpp files resides on my C drive nor does it seem that my computer does either as a search brings up nothing---Of course, that could be the problem...I dont know, Im a noob...

                Thanks...

Why have you not updated your OS and CS4? What else is missing from your info? Why are you running Spyware Doctor and God knows what other crap? There is a hint on how to ask questions at the top of the page.

I apologize for being (very) harsh, but there is so much info lacking that needs to be answered before anyone can guess what might be the solution. Look at the link on the home page for hints. If you can post at least a screen shot from Process Explorer and relevant details on your setup that would be helpful. It makes no sense to call your car dealer and saying "the car does not start". He wants more details, like which car, your wife's or your own, do you have the key, what happens when you turn the ignition, is your battery OK, do you have fuel in the tank, etc.

Thanks--OS not updated?-thats news to me, but then again every time I install the available XP updates my computer has issues, which no one claims responsibility for--that is, Windows blames it on the OEM agreement with Sony and Sony blames it on the Windows updates, with no one taking actual responsibility for the problems the updates may be causing a user(namely me, but I'm sure a large number of noobs).
I subscribe to PCWorld and I'm fairly certain that a glowing review re:Spyware Doctor induced me to give it a go. I didn't realize it was crap, but yeah I have a lot of similar highly reviewed crap on my machine.
Why can't I find that .cpp file? Is it gone? was it ever there to begin with? why doesn't Adobe provide you with the full path to the file that threw the error?--Doesn't seem to be any reference to it in the error report at all...

Oh, I did begin to read how to post and I'm sorry if I screwed up somewhere--but I did do my homework before posting--ie, search Google, my system, etc for possible problems and thus am not as big a luser as I appear to be.

                      Thanks again,

This is utter disaster. Clean up all of your running processes until you have less than 25 max running. You have way too much processes running causing slow performance and instability.

Harm, you didn't make a new year's resolution without telling us, did you? Ha, ha!

kami, Harm knows his stuff, so keep sorting this out. General problems and junk on PCs is a source of many PPro problems, even if many users can get away with ignoring them.

                                    Thanks Harm and Stanley,

Unfortunately, Premiere Pro now seems to be the least of my problems(I think I narrowed that down to some missing codecs)--
                                    big problems:
system restore not allowing the creation of restore points.
error-checking of the C drive not working.
                                    disk defragmenter not functioning
Multiple delayed write failure(think I fixed that one)

                                    etc

                                    oy!

I'd say that's big part of the problem :)
