I found a few post on this but I don't think the ones I found are my problem.
Anytime I bring in video and have it ready to work with, in the monitor I see a solid black bar across the screen, top and bottom. When I export the file the bars are added to the final product so when playing on TV, etc, the screen is smaller due to the added black bars.
If you shoot 4:3 footage wiht your camera use a standaard setting, when shooting 16;9 use a widescreen setting. When your camera shoots letterbox then use a standaard setting. Only the latter give black bars.
1. Widedscreen video in PE - I have no idea. I checked but did not see this listed anywhere.
2. Shooting 4:3 footage or 16:9 - No idea
The video I work with comes from interview rooms, police cars, undercover cameras, etc. So it may cover a wide range of elements from different sources. The videos I have tried in PE do not have the black bars added if I use Premiere Pro. It's only when I add them to PE.
