I'm interested in Premiere Elements (I want to leave Pinnacle behind) and
its been frustrating finding information. The website is all about the new
version 7 but I can't download anything (even the old) to see how it works.
I have a lot of .avi files in different sizes, aspect ratios and data rates
(mostly divx) - how well does PE handle them and how well does it output
disk files? I want to work at ntsc quality rather than youtube quality, but
have been experimenting with different data rates to keep file sizes
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am still struggling to decide if PE
is right for me.
PE works very well with DV AVI but can be problematic with other codecs such as divx. The workaround is often to use a third-party utility to convert the source first to DV AVI before importing into PE. There are several output disk file formats available, but once again you may need a third-party utility if the format you want is not included.
If the trial is no longer available, I suggest you wait until the new version comes out.
