    Video freezes after export

My video freezes after export from Premiere Elements 3.0. It runs several seconds then freezes. Audio continues. There's a transition, which works, next clip starts, works 3 seconds then freezes too. Original files are mp4. Any ideas? I've saved as many different formats with same result.

Your video is freezing AFTER export?

What file type are you exporting, and in what program are they freezing?

Also, you say your source files are MP4s. Are these AVCHD, hi-def video files? Premiere Elements may not be able to edit standard MP4s.

Yes, video freezes AFTER export, audio continues. MP4 files. They freeze in all programs, QuickTime, Windows Media, Real. Files are MP4-Movie.

It's H.264 encoding. The video camera was set on TV Super Fine (low compression), 720x480, 16:9. We imported the files into Premiere Pro CS3 and it choked on the video. Green screen. Could it be the processor is too slow? or Video? It's an IBM T60 notebook. Also doesn't work on a new HP notebook running an AMD Athlon Turion X2 RM-70 2GHz processor.

I'm sorry, Ray. I'm very confused if we're talking about video you're trying to edit or video you're trying to output.

Premiere Elements will usually not edit MP4 video, unless it's AVCHD (which it doesn't sound like it is).

A better alternative editor would be Quicktime Pro.

                  Ray,

if both Premiere Elements and Premiere Pro are giving issue with the same file, the probability is high that there is some issue in decoding of some particular frame of the video you are using. Will shooting solve your problem or you have to use this particular footage?

                  thanks

I think the issue may be in not having a codec. It's H.264 encoding. The video camera was set on TV Super Fine (low compression), 720x480, 16:9. We imported the files into Premiere Pro CS3 and it choked on the video. Green screen. Could it be the processor is too slow? or Video? It's an IBM T60 notebook. Also doesn't work on a new HP notebook running an AMD Athlon 64 Turion X2 TK-70 2 GHz Processor. 55MB file size.

I don't think the file is corrupt. Unedited version plays fine in QuickTime. I installed the software that came with the camera, MediaShow, and that doesn't help.

                      Ray,

Premiere Elements by itself has H.264 codec to take care of the encoding. A weak machine and low RAM could be one reason. Since you are running a H.264, upgrading a RAM to 2 GB(atleast) and a dual core processor might be helpful. Also if you could tell me which camera this footage is taken from will be great.
Worse case there is a possibility that the file is not supported.
Reporting this issue to tech-support seems to be a good idea and they might be able to provide you some work around.

                      Thanks
                      Daniel.
