I have a client that sent me DVDs to edit. I haven't previously worked with editing DVDs as a source. The quality of the video is not great (even before I load them into PE - just watching them in my DVD player) and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it. I tried converting a few VOB files to AVI using Streamclip but it didn't help. I am using PE4.
Depends on what editing is required... if you are not touching the video, or you are just doing cuts then do not convert the vob file but use a program with Smart Rendering... in that way the video will not be degraded. If you use PE4 it will re-render on export so the quality will always take a further hit.
Thanks for your reply. I am doing nothing more than cuts, titles, and adding music - it is a college athletic recruitment video; the footage is high school football games. Can you recommend a good program that offers smart rendering? Thanks again.
