    Dark Monitor screen

b Why is my Monitor screen very dark
when capturing via Firewire from my Sony handycam (DCR-PC104E, PAL) into Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0? The video on the timeline & playback is normal. No problems with editing, scrubbing, saving, transitions, adding texts, etc. The LCD screen on camera is normal.

I'm using Windows XP on 6-month old CPU Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8400, 3 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 2 GB RAM. I've 70 GB of free space in the Hard Disk.

The dark screen does not affect my editing quality, but it's annoying. Please help.

If you are capturing miniDV over Firewire, no change is being made to the video data itself during capture. Regardless of how it looks on your computer, the video is identical to what is in the camcorder.

You may want to adjust your monitor settings or go to Premiere Elements Edit/Preference and adjust the gamma or interface.
