Youtube Resolution Seems Very Poor Using HD Video

I am taking 1080 resolution footage from a Sony video camera and processing it with Premiere Elements 7.

I start with a 1080 (self made title) template and import 1080 footage and then save as MPEG, at 720p 30fps (using the HD 720o 30 preset), which is their recommended resolution.

For a 6-8min video this creates a file that is of the order of 800Mb and take a very long time to upload to Youtube.

However, I am quite disappointed with the quality of the video that is displayed on Youtube. I have seen other videos that seem very sharp in comparison.

Am I doing something wrong? Or can anyone offer any advice on how I can improve in what I am doing?

      Any assistance would be appreciated.
