Currently use Premiere Elements 3- What should I upgrade to?

I currently use Premiere Elements 3, and am in the market for a new computer to do my video work. I will likely get a 64-bit version of Vista as most computers I am looking at offer this by default.

My question is what new software should I purchase for Vista 64-bit that can open my old Premiere 3 files to edit? I need to have access to these old projects to edit on my new computer, and know PE3 is not 64 bit compatible.

      Thanks in advance.

If you download the patch, you can run version 3 on Vista.

I do not recommend using a newer version of the software to open older projects. It can lead to problems. It's best to finish your current project in your current software.

No Elements program is 64-bit compatible. However, Vista will automatically switch to compatibility mode to run 32-bit software. It's not flawless, but it usually works if you ensure that your operating system and Quicktime are up to date and that your computer is properly optimized and maintained.
