An H.264 file is also known as an MP4. It's a highly compressed file most commonly used in Apple products, like the video iPod and the iPhone.
A WMV is a Windows Media file, the most common video file to stream over the internet. It's also commonly used in smaller playback devices, like the Pocket PC and Microsoft Zune.
Steve, thanks for the response.
Put more directly, if page 255 is correct, since Pocket PC is a "mobile file" which produces a ".wmv" format, then I would conclude that the H.264 compression method is used to create the ".wmv" Pocket PC file.
Please tell me if this conclusion is correct, and if not, why.
It's clear to me that the documentation is wrong. Example, there's a "Mobile Phone" category that uses h.263, and Microsoft's products are going to use Windows Media Video format.
