When you say "HD camcorder", do you mean hard drive camcorder, HDV hi-def camcorder or AVCHD hi-def camcorder?
If these are AVCHD files, it's possible you're not using the right project settings for your audio. If this is the case, you will be able to see your clips added if you switch from Sceneline to Timeline and then scroll the timeline up so that you can see the Video 4 track.
thanks for replying - my camera is a sony HDR TG. Digital HD video camera recorder using memory stick pro duo. Bit of a novice on this!
Yes, that's an AVCHD camcorder recording in 5.1 audio.
You must use the proper project settings for this camcorder or all of your clips will appear on an upper video track, as I described in my first post.
Have you switched to sceneline view and looked at the upper tracks as I recommended?
I can see them in timeline after taking your advice - thank you - is there any way I can see them in the sceneline. I have set the project settings in PAL - AVCHD - FullHD 1080i 25.
As I've been saying Allison, you need to start a project with the AVCHD project settings that include the 5.1 audio.
Unfortunately, you can't change a project's settings mid-project, so you'll need to start a new project with those settings in order for it to work.
thanks for your help - i will give it a go. Regards
I also have the same problem. But when I start a new project, and set up the Project Settings as advised, there are no available presets at all so I am left with the default PAL-DV-Standard 48kHz that is offered (although even this is not apparent in the available presets).
How can I add presets?
Are you saying you can't click on the project settings button when you start and name your new project?
If so, something went wrong with your installation, and you'll likely need to uninstall and reinstall the program.
That's right. There are no presets at all available on starting the project. The box is just greyed out.
Without the 16/9 AVCHD preset all the clips are bunched into one box.
Not much good for someone who uses the sceneline mainly.
I have uninstalled once and reinstalled but without switching the computer on and off. Maybe I'll do that as well.
Just wondered if I can download the presets from anywhere?
Something is certainly wrong, Keith. And, if you can't solve with the a reinstallation and an update to the latest version of Quicktime (very important) you may need to contact Adobe Tech Support.
