Yes, that feature has been removed in version 7, Francesca. It could be because full-screen on a computer usually isn't very good (remember that computer screens usually have much higher resolution than TV screens) and it was giving a misleading preview of what your final video would look like.
About the only other option is to undock the monitor panel from the interface and, when you want to see full screen, drag the corner to enlarge it.
In my PE7 installation I have a button marked "Full Screen" at the top right of the entire interface - which gives me a full screen player. Isn't that what's being sought here?
In version 4, Oz, you could temporarily expand the monitor panel (only) to full screen so that you could preview your video. That feature seems to have been removed from version 7.
It's a shame that the feature has been removed from the version 7.
Like many other things in this world, new doesn't necessarily means better...

That in essence seems to be what the full screen button does, surely? Or to put it another way, when you press the full screen button, what does not happen compared to what happened in version 4? Here the normal interface fades out and the full screen player fades in.
There is no full screen playback button on the monitor in version 7, Oz.
What do you have in the top right hand corner of the screen?
I have a series of icons (with black writing on dark brown background that you can't read, but which turn to white writing when you hover the cursor over them) in four groups divided by three vertical bars. The second group from the right has a picture of a monitor and the words "full screen". If you click on that the picture displays full screen.
We are talking about the complete PE screen, not the monitor panel within the screen.
But is that full screen playback for the monitor or just full screen so that the program maximizes?
I'll have to study it later. I've never noticed what you're describing, so you could be right!
BTW, those other icons across the top right are a sign-in to Photoshop.com, a save button and undo and redo.
The icons I have are:
Save | Undo, Redo | Full_Screen | minimize, maximize, exit
I don't have Photoshop Elements installed on that computer and there is no sign-in to Photoshop.com (I don't have internet access either).
Perhaps you have a Beta version of 7, not the latest retail version.

It's full screen playback for the monitor. Trust me, it works! I've seen the future and it's full screen!! (Maybe you never clicked on it, thinking that it was the same as Window's usual maximise thing).
You guys are exactly right! Thanks for finding it.
Isn't it great that we can learn something new every day?
