    Adobe 9 + Roaming Profiles + Administrator

    Level 1
      Roaming Profiles (Vista on 2003 domain) are set to use Adobe Reader 8.
      After installing Adobe 9, the program "terminates abnormally".
      Adobe 9 runs OK as an administrator (non-roaming).
      I tried making a roaming user a local admin temporarily, then returning him to normal user - problem returned.
      So far, the only solution is to uninstall Adobe 9 & reinstall Adobe 8.

            I'm seeing the same problem with the full version of Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Professional, in what seems to be the same setup, only XP clients as well as Vista are affected.

            The exact error messages I'm getting are:

            >Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library
            >Runtime Error!
            >Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
            >The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way.
            >Please contact the application's support team for more information.

            and when viewing PDF files in Internet Explorer:

            >Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library
            >Debug Error!
            >Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
            >abnormal program termination
            >(Press Retry to debug the application)

            My Domain Admin account is not affected, even when I assigned it a roaming profile temporarily. Curiously, I tried adding an affected user to the local Administrators group and this had no effect - the user still experienced crashes.

            The same user logging onto one of our laptops (which are set to use local profiles even for domain users) does NOT experience crashes.

            I've managed to generate a crash dump for this and from reading through the stack trace it appears the problem stems from the PDFLTerm() function in AdobePDFL.dll

            >WARNING: Stack unwind information not available. Following frames >may be wrong.

            What more can I say? We've just bought a site licence for Acrobat so at least I should be able to kick up a fuss, unlike anyone using Reader...

              Does Abode have a time frame for a fix? I cannot apply these hacks (and yes thats what they are - no reasonably good IT group would implement them in production) in my environment to get one buggy application to work. I called support and all they did was direct me here and not give my any information or time frame on a potential fix. Oh yeah, I can also submit a feature request. Awesome.

              This is absolutely horrible customer service. There was nobody I could talk to besides a level 1 tech and this forum, there was nobody to even tell me if and when a fix may be released. How am I supposed to go back to the business and tell them I cant upgrade our terminal service environment because of Acrobat? That is ridiculous. I cant even go to back to 8.0, because the PDF printer doesnt work on x64 systems, which is what I am using.

                There's a much bigger thread on this problem elsewhere on these forums:

                The word as of 2 weeks ago is that the next update to Acrobat (presumably 9.1) has a fix for this, but no-one at Adobe is telling when that update will be.
