When I attempt to update my Adobe Reader I receive the message Error 1714. And when I try to print a PDF file from my computer I receive a message saying something like Unable to locate printer.

However Mike the solution is the same. Use the Windows Installer Clean-up utility to remove the previous version.
This should work for all of you. Go to Microsoft Support page, look for, then download,"Windows Installer Cleanup Utility".
Then, go to start, ALL PROGRAMS, click on your new program,"WINDOWS INSTALL CLEAN UP".
Be VERY carefull, hi-light "adobe reader" then click remove.
go back to adobe.com and you will now be able to download what you need to.
I never thought to use the Windows Installer Clean-up utility.
