>I wonder if there was a other solution
No. That is the only solution I've ever seen mentioned around here that works.
Are you saying that the problem exists on all 600 computers...?
I don't think so. If an earlier version is correctly installed, and all uninstall information preserved, then the installer can uninstall the earlier version with no problems.
If some uninstall information is missing (oftentimes caused by "registry cleaners" or other "cleaning" applications), then the only course of action may be the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
Try it with a cleanly installed version 8.x, and you will see that the upgrade will work like a charm. :)
Thank you for your answer! Yes indeed I have the same problem on nearly 600 machines ... Whenever I try to uninstall version 8.1.2 on clients computers, it says it can not find the installation source ... No matter if I use the command "msi /x" or the Windows Uninstaller... But the source has never changed! It's on a DFS, in the same place!
It's certain that if I install the package on a clean computer, everything should work fine. But I can not format 600 machines, each time I want to install Adobe Reader ...
I know I am not alone in having this problem ... I hope someone has already found a solution!
Not sure if I can help you much more with this; is it possible that the original Reader 8.x was installed as an administrator user, and you try it under a user-level with no admin rights?
Thank you again for your help! Yes I have tried multiple users (normal-user, administrator, domain-administrator), and I cant uninstalled. I even activate event logs for the installation of GPO, and it's said the same thing in the log... "cannot found installation source...". Why Adobe dont create a Adobe Reader clean script!? I am really disappointed...
> Why Adobe dont create a Adobe Reader clean script!?
I have to agree with you on this; with the *many* uninstall problems we see in this forum, this would be a really helpful thing.

Sorry that I couldn't help more.

I need to do some class work on line and need adobe reader..
It gives Error 1706 everytime and does not allow me to download
Can you help me with getting this thing off of computer #601
For your particular issue, you should be able to download and run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility.
Google it. The first hit will be a link to Microsoft with information on running it and a link to the download.
