    Creating PDF "attachments"

      How does one create Attachments (or other notations) to PDF files? Is it possible?

      I am using many pdf files of scholarly articles and books in academic research, and need to make notes about each while studying them. Ideally the notes should open with the document, when I return to it.

      My current method--extremely cumbersome--is 1) make notes in word processor; 2) Word processor "publishes" notes to PDF file; 3) Merge PDF notes and original PDF file into single document.

      There's gotta be an easier way!?
