> Does anybody know how to set up Adobe Reader 9 in this manner ?
really no way ?
Even not through an ini-file, reg-key or what ever ?
This program drives me crazy, I have to click double the time like with Acrobat Reader 8 !!!
Previous versions of Reader allowed you to open several files in the same window why not version9, am I missing something?
This feature was removed.
Big mistake will it be brought back do you think in the future

Hard to say. That would be something that only the engineers and beta testers would know and they can't really say. Unfortunately Reader doesn't have a feature request part to the forum or I'd suggest everyone send in a request.
Actually there is a feature request page:
Cool. Never seen that before thanks. They seem to have it hidden in the ColdFusion area of the forums (which is mostly for the former Macromedia product line.) Odd they don't have a link at the top of the forum list like they do in the other product forums.
This is the worst thing to happen to acrobat, in my opinion.
The clutter that it creates on my computer and the fact that i cant even see the document title when I have a bunch of them open (because the task bar is too full) is unacceptable.
I never would have changed from Acrobat 8 if I had known, and now I cant switch back (company license).
The latest thing i can find about addressing it is here:
which was in november 2008....
why hasnt any thing else been done about it? I just spent 45 minutes being sent to different departments over the phone, only to be told to submit a feature request.
Please do this if you havent already:
I was recently installing the 9.x Reader and ran into this problem. I can say just the same, this is the worst thing to happen. I quickly reinstalled the previous release of the Reader, 8.x, in the hope that things would change some sunny day. I have read the explanation on the adobe.com web site of why the feature has been removed. It seem that it has been done in order to match to the Mac version of the Reader. Why MS Windows users should be thinking about what might happen on Mac?
Thanks to all who respond to the original question and for providing with the link to a wish list. I also left a request there asking to bring the feature back alive.
