too many files on start up

      Acrobat Reader 8. Win XP.
      My problem:
too many previously read files are loading automatically on Acrobat Reader start up.
Can't find preference option to control this mode.

This is how to change the number of recent documents in Adobe Reader 9:
          *Edit | Preferences
          *Category: Documents
*Open Settings: change the number of 'Documents in recently used list'

It is probably somewhere very similar in Adobe Reader 8.

Files are loaded automatically on start up. Number of loaded files is more then in recently loaded list number. Recently read files number is set 7. Number of automatically loaded files (more then 7) changes each time (grows as rule). Reader must not load files automatically (as I know).
