I believe that version 6 could be just tossed in the trash. No
(Mac OSX10.3.9)I dragged Adobe Reader 7.1.0 into my application folder. A little nervous that it will actually work since there was no "install" choice. Before I did this, I noticed that 6.0 was still my default program. I am hoping that the 7.1.0 will now be the default, but haven't had a chance to test it. I have not trashed 6.0 yet. If the next time I use Adobe Reader, the 7.1.0 opens, then I guess I will drag the 6.0 into the trash. Does this all make sense? As you can see I am somewhat of a novice at all of this. Thank you for your help, Mike.

That is common for OS X applications.

Sure. If by some chance, it still opens in 6, do the following:
Open Reader 7.1.0 from within the applications folder to be sure that everything opens up ok. If it does, simply highlight a PDF or two in Finder, go to file>Get info>Open with, Choose Reader 7.1.0 then click the "change all" button.
Double click on a PDF to be sure it's using 7. If so, drag the older version to the trash and you're done.
