OK. What does these Optional directory do under Windows and is there a similar one in Linux to speed up?
Bacause without the 45MB of standard plugins the reader starts in around 10-15% the time. And under Windows this theems to be an option.

There you can put unused plugins. You can create a similar directory in Linux.
Thought it would be possible to load some plugins on demand and not on startup.
Optional sounds like that this is possible because I read something about a plug_ins_disabled directory too.
OK, have to look for another way to speedup the start. Maybe its possible to daemonize the reader like OpenOffice Quickstart.
