    License Question - Please Help

We purchased the Myriad Semi Pro font family for 30 users. We run Cognos reporting and have a need to produce reports with the Myriad Semi Pro font.

Do I need to purchase the font family for each possible user? We have over 3000 users. Each user will just be running the report and not making any edits.

      Help, thanks!

This is the forum for Adobe Reader. If this has to do with Reader, maybe you can tell us how it is involved?

Our users use Reader to view the Cognos report.

If this is simply a general question about font licensing and usage then, the license is good for installation on 30 machines. You would need enough licenses to cover all of your users and they would all ned it installed on their machine.

If you can create a PDF from Cognos, you can embed the font information in to the file so everyone can view it properly. The use there would be unlimited (assuming the font will allow embedding).

If it's the former, I would suggest using a standard font that you already have available on all machines.

                Sorry. We cross posted.

So, if the file has the fonts embedded then yes, they can all view it on their machines. The only machines that need the license are the ones creating the PDF's.

Thanks! Do you work for Adobe? Is there a doc on Adobe's site that confirms what you have indicated. Thank you so much.

                    >Do you work for Adobe?

                    No. Just a fellow user.

Maybe but everything you need would be in your licensing agreement. As far as embedding it goes, it is allowed. That's one of the main reasons to use PDF is so people can "view" the fonts you use without installing them on their machine.

There ARE some (very few) fonts out there that won't allow embedding but you'll know it if you have them. To the best of my knowledge, Adobe allows embedding ALL the fonts that they sell.

No. Just a fellow user. There are few and most of the time no Adobe employees in here.

For further information on your particular font, you'll want to contact the Adobe sales staff.
