Reader wont upgrade from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3

I currently have Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Often, when I connect to the internet, it downloads the update for 8.1.3 (about 30MB as far as I can tell). It then goes about updating Reader and then reports that the update was complete, with no apparent errors. When I check the version of Reader, it is still 8.1.2

This has now happened many times. Repeated downloads of 30MB a time is a waste when I only occasionally read PDF files.

What is going on and how can I correct it?

If I were to experience your situation I would go and explicitly download Adobe Reader 8.1.3 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

Make sure that Adobe Reader is closed, then install the new version. Once complete, download and install the security update 8.1.4 from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd814_all_incr.msp
