we have a large environment with Adobe Reader 8.1 users. I ran in to the described problem above. I did a few tests:
PDF file 3,43 MB printed with Adobe Reader 7.0.8 spool file 4,36MB
PDF file 3,43 MB printed with Adobe Reader 8.1 spool file 77,3MB
PDF file 3,43 MB printed with Foxit Reader 2.1 spoolfile 4,16MB
A lot of forums around the www, posting the same issues. No solutions so far. I contacted Adobe Netherlands Tech Support. Because it's a free product, tech support only helps with installing issues......
I can't understand that a big player as Adobe let this happen without a quick solution by their tech team.
What printer? what driver?
Concerning the pb, here are my tests :
On a Canon iR9070 with PostScript Driver
Reader 7 -> 90 mb
Reader 8 -> 800 mb
It happens on different printers, we have the case with a Xerox 480 PCL too.
What printer? what driver?
In our case:
OCE 3145 with PS2 Driver.
To my opinion it has nothing to do with the printer or the driver. Nothing was changed, only the Adobe version.
If you design a car, you can't blame the roads for bad performance... ;)
I had a similar problem with windows XP on hp printer. (Color and SW)
PDF with 3.28 MB
Adobe Reader 7.08 -> 11 MB
Adobe Reader 7.09 -> 385 MB
Adobe Reader 8.1 -> 158 MB
Why is there such a different ?
We can't print some documents cause our printer has not enough memory. Is the only solution to downgrade to 7.08 ?
kind regards Andreas
Andreas, which HP printer model and driver are you using?
Would you be able to email me the PDF or is it posted on the net somewhere?
Hello to all,
If someone wants to do some testing, I up loaded one of my test files.
just check http://adobe.raionline.nl
good luck with solving the issue,
Ridcully and Nicolas,
Hello, would either of you be able to email a test file or post one on the net? I would also like to know your printer driver and model.
Hello to all,
Today we launched Foxit Reader 2.1, instead of Adobe Reader 8.1.
And what happened..... No angry users anymore. Printing is fast and all problems are solved. This is a big win with a few thousand students. It's integrated in Internet Explorer and you can install it next to Adobe. Foxit Reader is available for free at http://foxitsoftware.com
So as long as Adobe doesn't fix the issue.....help yourself!!!
Yep, it's clue, but unfornately i can't deploy this software on my 300 pcs
I have having the same problem. I have a 1MB e-book and I can print just fine to the HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL 6 -
However, I cannot print to the brand new $10,000 Canon iR C3220 PS3 after updating adobe reader to 8.0 -
There were occasions where it had worked when I sent only one page, but as soon as I try to send 50 pages nothing happens. The Printer log shows that the document was received but there were 0 pages.
I have tried multiple times, and even tried reinstalling Adobe 8.1..but nothing works.
Hi, we have several HP printers getting 49.4c02 errors when printing pdf's with a watermark. This did not happen until we upgraded from reader 7 to reader 8. Anyone else having this issue?
>Anyone else having this issue?
A few people with specific older HP printers.
Hi to everybody
My previous post was not exactly correct.
Sorry the pdf is cofidential but it is a presentation generated in ms powerpoint. Size ist 3,28 with 51 Pages and many pictures in it.
I tried it on 2 printer
HP LaserJet 3150
HP Color LaserJet 2840
PDF 7.09 is NOT 385 MB it is 190 MB, my mistake was, that after upgrade from 7.08 to 7.09 the checkbox "print as image" was selected.
Is there a way to downgrade to 7.08.
I have several machines running XP and a Xerox Phaser 6360DT. All the machines with Adobe 8 (either Acrobat 8 or Reader 8) have all kinds of problems printing and creating pdf's. None of the machines running version 7 or Foxit have problems.
I cannot print with Reader 8.1 on Windows Vista on a new HP laptop to a networked Brother 420CN printer, no matter which PDF. Other programs print fine in that situation. An older Dell running Windows XP prints fine under the same circumstances.
I installed Adobe reader 8 and about 50% of the time when I try to print a pdf someone has sent me my HP printer gives me blank pages instead of the pdf text that I see on my screen. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have older and new Lexmark printer.
All my contact in other company have the same issue.
Is anyone find a solution?
I have a PDF that contains Adobe Flash Player multimedia content. However, when I try to print the page it comes out blank.
FYI, the document contains interactive graphs and charts that show specific values when you scroll over the graphs.
I am unable to print all pdfs, very random, made with the same writer. Specifics:
I am running vista home premium
Adobe acrobat standard 8.1.1
Printer is canon pixma mp530
Suggestions, solutions welcome.
I am unable to print PDFs in Adobe Reader 8.1.1
I have a lexmark printer all-in-one X2470
I have Vista installed on my computer. When I try to print out any PDF I am getting a message that I need to install a printer or drivers which both are already installed. I have no problem printing anything else on my printer or any other files.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this problem. Also I did remove all blocks like Defender so that all driver would be downloaded correctly.
I noticed one common similarity.
When I am unable to print PDFs it occurs more frequently when I try to print PDF documents off of a website, (any website, and any size PDF) even if I save them to my hard drive.
It has occurred frequently, and again today with a simple 4 page PDF with no graphics.
I am able to print to the old HP black and white printer, but not to our new color Canon.
If I create a PDF on my own I am able to print it. I am able to produce very large PDFs and print them with no problem.
Has there been any help from ADOBE on this problem yet?
I have adobe reader 8.1.1 when I open any pdf files not secured files and try to print it gives me this error:
before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer.
I have three printer in my xp and all working fine and can print from other programs.
I updated from Adobe Reader 7.x to 8.x and immediately had a problen when trying to print a pdf document on my HP C3180 which accepted the document and drew in the A4 sheet but then stoped. My printer would print MS Word .docs etc - no problems. After trying all else I uninstalled Ad Rdr v8.x and reinstalled v7.x and the printer worked perfectly. Any suggestions would be apreciated
I have a SHARP AR-M277 PCL6 printer and some PDF doc's print correctly and some don't.( it looks like code on the printed page)
Using Adobe reader 8 amd IE6.
Seems most of the problem is when documents are being printed from the internet.
If anyone has any suggestions.
Drivers have been updated and there are no other problems.
My office runs both PC / Mac platforms, XP on the PC side, and OS X 10.3 or higher on the Mac side. Currently using Acrobat 8.0. We recently purchased two HP 2605dn laserjet printers, and when sending a pdf to either printer from a mac, any field (ie text box) gets filled with red. I sent the same pdf from a PC, and did not have this problem, and the job printed as it normally should. Anyone else have this issue? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -SOS
I can't believe: After more than 3 month, there is no solution from HP.
MAC OS X 10.5.2 and Acrobat 8.1.2: If I print with Acrobat to our 2840 printer, all fields a red.
Sorry Hewlett-Packard, that's incredible!
