I too am having this problem. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall with the firewall and antivirus off but to no avail.
I am having a similar problem which states
"AcroRd32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log will be created."
I had to uninstall 8.1.1 and reinstall Acrobat reader "AdbeRdr708_en_US.exe". 7.08 has problems of it's own. If you click a pdf file that has been sent to you on the internet a page will pop up telling you it cannot find the "DownloadFileManage.exe" if you go to the FAQ site they give you instructions that do not solve the porblem.
I am having the same problem as ED FOGEL. This is absolutely insane. Who do we get help from?
I have the same problem as Ed, JediFirst and Elaine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I also tried to reset the computer but it doesn't recognize that I made changes. This is a big problem. Does anyone know how to resolve it or tell me how to get help? PLEASE!

Uninstall Adobe Reader, and install a more robust PDF viewer, like: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
Has anyone come up with a solution that allows 8.1.1 ?
More robust pdf viewers are a complication I don't want.
I, too, have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled a couple of times.
Similar problem here.
Have vista home premium edition. Everytime i open a PDF in IE7 i get a message saying a serious problem has been encountered and adobe reader 8.1.1 must close (which it then does). Adobe reader works fine outside of IE7 though.
Have tried reinstaling, same thing happens.
Have latest patches for IE and windows installed.
Solution still being worked on i guess??
I think you can try download pdf files and read them on PC. If the files still cannot open, the file may be damaged. And you may use a utility called Advanced PDF Repair to repair your PDF file. It works rather well for my corrupt PDF files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/apdfr/
Use the Msicuu2 from the microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301, download the utility, remove the reader, then clear the Prefetch, by Typing on Start>RUN>PREFETCH.
You will see files listed, highlight the files & del them, restart the computer, & download the latest version
I followed swapnilsalimath instructions but it didn't correct my problem of error msg. as others are having. I have even restored my puter to a time prior to the last time I know the reader was working OK to no avail. Hope someone can help solve the problem. I have several saved manuals all in adobe reader that are of no use now.
