I am having the exact same problem. I am trying to print to an Epson CX5800F. Have tried everything I can think of. I hope someone out there has a solution for us.

I have had some sucess with this sine I posted this message.
On two different customers' machines I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled 8.0 and NOT updated it.
It has worked twice ... I see a pattern here.
I am curious, though, that with all the people having printing problems with this version it has not yet been fixed and updated from Adobe.
Please let me know if you ave run into any further issues or solutions.

I guess I have the Same Problem since I upgraded to Adobe 8.1.1,(I think that's when it started) But when I try to print out a PDF File I can see the Progress Window and then a new window pops up called Print to file and I have to name the (Output File name:) with the option OK or Cancel. When I cancel I can't print or for that matter fax at all and If I name the file. It freezes up on me all the time. And I still can't fax or print the file. HELP.
Try uninstalling 8.1.1 and reinstalling either 7 or 8. I experienced this exact thing Saturday with a customer and when I moved to 7.0 that print to file crap went away. I am not claiming that I have a solution, but his worked for me just this past Saturday.
The good thing about this is that I am a computer tech and this Adobe error is making $$ for me!!! YEA!!! :):)
(Although it took 6 hours of FRUSTRATION learning how to bypass this)
Remember .. TURN OFF the Adobe auto updater or your problem will probably come back.

Great Don, just one Problem every where I go to download either 7 or 8 I get send right back to 8.1.1 HELP (By the way it dose not take an PC tech to tell me to go to the old version since I had the strong suspicion that the new version has a bug) :D:D:D
Well, Don I actually found a place to get 7.0.9 so I'm happy with that until they fix the bug.
Thanks for the help ;)
I'm having the exact same problem. All client who upgraded to 8.1.1 can't print multiple forms. Though they can print them 1 at a time. What did Adobe add to this new version (8.1.1). Where can I find the release notes? do you guys plan on fixing this?
Don, thanks! Had the same problem with v. 8--couldn't print. Thought it was the printer. I was on the try-everything cycle, when I found this post.... Got rid of 8, downloaded 7 (and made sure automatic updates were/are off,) and voila! It's print as I write...a lovely sound.
I have read this thread and am having similar printing problems. I Uninstalled the 8.1 version and just installed the 7.0. I also shut off check for critical updates. I still can't print at all. I get the error report screen each time and Adobe shuts down. Any ideas? Thanks all.
Richard, I have same problem. Can you supply a link to get a download of Reader 7.0. Thanks
i use adobe to print out up to 150 pages at a time: 10 x a 15 page document. with my old adobe ( i think it was 6) these pages just churned out one after another. i finally gave in and upgraded, and had an 8.1.1 Now each page gets printed like a seperate print job, so it takes forever. i uninstaled the 8.1.1. and installed 7, but the same thing happens. Any idea why? Is there a solution or must i hunt in the depths for adobe 6 again? i'd appreciate any suggestions
I just downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and I am able to print. Hopefully this fixes the problem mentioned in this thread.
I had this issue for the first time yesterday with version 8 and the updates after it.
Every other app was printing and nothing above helped.
However I noticed I had installed the PCL6 (I think) driver for the printer on the server. (OKI 5700) I chanced this to the PCL driver and it worked without any issues. Not sure if this could work for everyone but the issue could be related to how adobe talks to the specific drivers.
Hope this is of some help.
Does anyone know what Adobe's stance is on this issue since printing worked fine in pre 8.x versions? Do they have plans to fix this in future releases?
Please can anyone help with this problem? Everything is working fine and I can print anything except a PDF file.
I am having this problem also, but when I tried to remove 8.1.1 and replace it with another version, it says that the patch package can't be opened.
Bill Badalucca-March 8, 2008- I had the cannot print problem as seen on these forums and when I tried to remove it using the control panel "AD OR REMOVE" it said the "patch could not be opened....." etc and to contact adobe. Well on one of these postings Carl Lambert gave a good idea. He said to download "WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY" and use IT to uninstall the Reader 8.1.1 then download the Adobe Reader version 8.1.2.
It worked like a champ and now I can print and download PDF documents as I used to be able to.
Thanks for all the help, y'all!!
I had the exact same issue as Bill Badalucca and did what he said. Solved it straight away.
Thanks for the help Bill and Carl and the linking to this thread.
Thanks Bill + Carl
You guys are geniuses!
Bill, goodonya mate!
I also had same problems as others, not even able to delete, and your solution solved it in a few minutes.
At same time I made the mistake of upgrading Outlook 7, so now I have a new look screen, very nice, but have also lost all 200 emails in sent box I needed to keep.
Any suggestions ??
Have purchased a Garmin etrex GPS Legend Hcx a few days ago. Woefully inadequate instructions, apart from the very obvious, even salesman admitted to poor instructions. I am a professional geologist, not interested in "games, hunting or fishing", just want the damn thing to do all its supposed to do for me whem I go to Mozambique for a month like 19 March. Any suggestions. forum guys???
I guess the lesson to be learned is not to jump in and upgrade to the latest just because it's toted as "better".
Thanks for the advice from Bill, Mark and Carl. Had the same problem. My husband couldn't print tickets from ticketmaster and wanted to know what 'I' did to the computer. Being that I am the savvy one on computers, I tried varous things and found removing Adobe Reader was impossible and it wouldn't repair or install over the malfunctioning version 8.1.1. Restoring to prior date when the Adobe Reader functioned didn't work either. Wasn't sure if I should try the clean up utility, Adobe database made it sound complicated with alot of warnings that it could screw things up, but after reading above posts, I tried it. Found it very simple to download and worked perfect the first time, installed the 8.1.2 version and viola, we have our tickets! thank you so much. Adobe troubleshooters, I hope you are paying attention here! So many times new versions come out on these computer programs and they have bugs. Wish they'd catch them prior to making available to the public. Helen Littler
