You could try an uninstall/reinstall of Adobe Reader BUT this will
make no difference unless you remove the plug_ins folder between
uninstalling and reinstalling.

I was looking at my directory c:\program files\adobe and I noticed that there are several older versions that were not removed after installing the successive versions. Can all of these directories be removed or are they needed for backward compatibility?
They are not needed for compatibility. You could try renaming them
before deleting them, to double check they are not needed. Give it a
few weeks, run a wide range of programs in case they do something
silly like trying to run the old version directly.
my problem is when i open acrobat 6.0 professional with my login it gives error "the file annots.api have bad parameters". i have reinstalled the acrobat but it is giving same error.
but if i open the same in administrator or other login then it work fine.
if someone has solution the mail me.
