We have a 50+ user network that uses a Linux-based proxy server. Even though most of the time this 10 year old hardware is more than sufficient for our needs, it seems that since Adobe Reader 8.1.2 came out, our proxy has been randomly flooded with GET requests for 8.1.2 software.

These are in the order of several per second. Our only recourse thus far has been to deny the offending PC until we can track it down and disable the auto update feature.
We only have an 8Mb cable connection, and the update does not actually download, so I can't see that as being the issue here. We are building a new proxy server, but I have my doubts that that will resolve the problem.
