Won't print, can't open from web, can't uninstall

1- When I try to print from Reader 8.1 I get the following error message:

"Unable to start print job. Is printer available?"

The only button available is "OK", and when I click it the same window pops up again. After clicking "OK" the second time the window goes away.

My printer works fine for everything else.

2- When I try to open .PDF's from the web, the whole browser locks up. The only way to get out of it, short of re-starting the computer, is through Windows Task Manager, and clicking "End Task" for Firefox.

3- When I try to uninstall Reader 8.1 through Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs I get the following error message:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

All of the above problems happened at the same time, and may have started with an update to Reader 8.1.2.

I have used the program for years and have had no issues like this.
