To get version 7 go to this link :
scroll down to Step 2 of 2 and you'll see the downloads for Reader 6, 7, and 8.
Myself I'm tempted to go back to version 6, it was a heck of alot more stable than 7 or 8 has been.
Ed, thank you for your message. I did try the link you provided, but when I selected version 7, it still too, me to version to 8 to download. It's as if they don't want you to download an older version.
I did uninstall Adobe Reader 8, downloaded it again, and re-installed it again to my desktop, and this time it seemed to work OK. Keep your fingers crossed that it will continue to do so.
I can open the 8.1.2 version I have on my computer by right clicking and opening it as "run as" and opening it under the administrator profile. It will not run if I just click on it. Is there a way to change it so it automatically opens under my profile? I can't click on a pdf and have it automatically open even though I have set it up to.
Beverly, I also had this problem with reading a PDF file in version 7 on the North Carolina CD's on my laptop that I mentioned earlier. And I had this and other problems with version 8 on my desktop. However, yesterday I uninstalled version 8 on my desktop PC, downloaded again the latest version on Adobe's website and reinstalled it. Since then, it has been working OK when I click on the file name. I have not yet reinstalled the reader on my laptop as I wanted to make sure this version 8 was working on my desktop OK. You might try this to see if it will work for you.
Each time, I click on the Adobe Reader812en_us program menu, It doesn't
open to its main page instead it zips right to the short quick setup
page. I wondering if you having problems with this updated Adobe
Reader program and could you fix or solve the problem for me?
Jane, I'm not an expert in Adobe Reader. I have not experienced the problem you describe. When I reinstalled Adobe Reader recently, I did not notice anything unusual about the installation. Does the Reader quick setup not install an icon on your desktop?
