What happens when you try to delete it?
i click on file but when the menu box appears there is no delete item shown. i have tried right click on the downloaded file but there is no delete check there either.
You CANNOT delete files inside Reader; this would be impossible as
well as not the usual Windows way of doing things.
You delete files in Windows Explorer. A right click on any file in
Windows Explorer should show Delete.
when i go into windows explorer the downloaded brochure does not show up. i am at a loss as to how to get rid of this item.

Are you looking directly in the right folder for the file? Or is it
that you don't know where to look?
To find where to look, use Ctrl+D in Adobe Reader, and it will show
you the full file name.
i opened adobe reader then clicked on file. at the drop down i clicked on the brochure, when this opened i did control+D. on the window that opened it read Title: Buzzlines-SprWin08-v10:Buzzlines-SprWin08-v
i then clicked on the help part in this same window, this opened up another window showing 'my documents'. i then typed in the above title but it was not found.
If your window looks the same as mine, you will have a box
"Description" and below that a box "Advanced".
In the "Description" box the file name is shown as File:. Ignore the
The folder to look in is in the "Advanced" box under Location.
i clicked on 'advanced' this opened with 2 sub boxes within.
box 1 headed PDF Settings
box 2 headed Reading options
Nothing written against any of those items.
For the record i have windows XP home edition including service pack 2.
I think you are clicking on the Advanced tab in the Document
What you need to look at is under the Description tab. I have Acrobat,
not Reader, but I see a Description and Advanced box under this.
thanks for bearing with me on this.
i looked under the Description tab.
Following is what comes up in that box (yes it is Documents Properties)
PDF Producer:Acrobat Distiller 8.1.0 (Macintosh)
PDF Version:1.4 (Acrobat 5.x)
Path:C:Documents and Settings/fil..20Bro%202008%20_20Final(1).pdf
Page Size: No of pages 40
Tagged PDF: No Fast Web Page: Yes
Ok it is here: C:Documents and
you can see that the middle is cut off. But double click on this to
open in Windows Explorer.
THEN, keeping Windows Explorer open go back to Adobe Reader and close
the file, because you cannot delete an open file. Then, go back to
Windows Explorer and delete it.
read your instructions, tried to open the file by going into adobe reader, click on file - the drop down list is now reading as follows:-
i do not know why it has changed but i now get a message that an error has occurred and adobe reader cannot open it. the file cannot be found.
is there anything i can do now. if i were to delete the adobe reader then reinstall will that solve anything or will i lose all my saved pdf files?
It does look as though you just had a temporary file open (from an
e-mail or a web page). These are automatically deleted for the most
ok, thanks for all your assistance
I am trying to delete an Adobe Reader file which I created by scanning. In Windows Explorer, I right click on the file and select delete. I get the following message: "Error deleting file or folder. Cannot delete [name of file]: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."
