The name was Adobe Acrobat Reader until version 5.0. As of 6.0 (2003)
they changed it to Adobe Reader.

Could be this issue:
Sorry I didn't find that in all my searching of the forum.
Solution 2 worked for me and the new rapidity in displaying .pdfs is really nice.
Thanks for your help.

Using Adobe Reader 8.1.1 successfully with a G5 PPC iMac, Safari 3.1, and OSX 10.4.11. Considering an upgrade to Adobe Reader 8.1.2, but note that OSX 10.4.11 is not listed in System Requirements, which stops at OSX 10.4.9.
Will Adobe Reader 8.1.2 install and be compatible with this system configuration?
After the fix outlined above, it works for me (8.1.2 & 10.4.11)
Thank you for responding, Paul. I'll check it out.
I have the same problem as Paul R. with Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and MAC OS 10.4.11. When I open a .pdf file it stays open for about 5 seconds then closes Adobe Reader and my Safari browser. My system is an IMAC 17" with the intel processor. Any words of wisdom as to how to correct this?
Annid Inston gave me this fix.`
Solution 2 worked for me.
I hope Paul R's solution (#7 of 7) allowed you to solve the problem. Good luck.
Thank you Paul/Bob. Solution 2 at the website provided by Paul worked perfect. I now have full access to Adobe Reader 8.1.2. Thanks again!
