My new HP laptop running Vista SP1 has frozen multiple times when viewing PDF documents with reader. The symptoms are that the computer continues to run, but I see no changes on the screen and neither the keyboard nor the mouse can be used. The system is not completely dead, however as audio continues to work. The mouse cursor is not displayed.

Adobe Reader 8, the only update not installed is the language update
Update: I have not had another freeze from a PDF file since I shut down the computer AND REMOVED THE BATTERY for a minute or two before putting it back in and re-starting. I did this after one of the freezes caused the computer to get in a state that prevented the display from operating after being logged on. It would not even display correctly when booted in "safe mode".
