I have the same problem after upgrading from Adobe Reader 7 to Reader 8.1.2. I have repaired without success at least 5 times. I have uninstalled, downloaded, and reinstalled Reader 8.1.2 at least 5 times with no success in correcting the issue.
I run XP Media Center.
I have the exact same problem and it is extremely frustrating. I have a ton of pdf files on my computer that I can no longer open. I have downloaded software that says it can repair adobe viewer errors and nothing works. I am running XP as well. How do we get help from either Adobe or Microsoft. I have not a clue as to the problem, but I have my computer set to provide a mini dump, so I could send it if I knew who to send it to.
I have Adobe Reader 8.1 on Vista and often get a message "One or more Adobe pdf extensions are disabled. Please go to - manage - add on's in Internet Explorer and enable add - on's from Adobe."
I am unable to find any Add - on's to open
