Viewing text information in a searchable PDF

      Hi all,

      A question about PDF files.

Am I right to understand that a searchable PDF usually has 2 layers - one for the image and the other for the text in it? When such a PDF is opened in a viewer, what one sees is the image layer but when the cursor is used to select from it, the text is copied from the text layer.

Now, if my understanding is right - is there a way to view just the text layer, i.e. hide the image layer and see the text under it?

      Will appreciate any help. Thanks,
