If you have Reader, you should be fine. Open it with that.
>Doesn't adober reader 8 have acrobat
No. They're different products.
Adobe Reader - Reads PDF's
Adobe Acrobat - For creation and editing of PDF's.
I have tried to open them but unable to. When I click on view or open I see the message again but no file to open. The other way to open is "mime" and that doesn't work either. The first one is htm. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!!!
Try opening Reader first. Then use File>Open to try and open one of them.
I am trying to view PDF files.
I get a message that it cannot locate the program to open the file.
I right click the file and select Adobe 8.
The message comes back with stating a corrupt file as Adobe is running files.
I've tried DL Adobe and reload...won't do it.
I recently upgraded from Adobe 7 to Adobe 8.02. I have several cd disks with .pdf files that used to open from pushing a button with the mouse which created an auto call and start adobe. All prior versions of Adobe reader worked fine. Adobe 8.02 can't find the reader to open the file.

What happens when you start Adobe Reader?
Note: The current version is 8.1.2
1. Adobe 8,1,2
2. It needs to know what program?
3. Set-up was interupted.
The most common fix for error 1714 is to run the MS installer cleanup utility but that doesn't work for everyone. Try looking through these threads: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?
Thanks for the speedy response! :)
How do I activate the MS Installer Clean Utility...Where do I find it?

Herre is the error mesage I get when when trying to delete Adobe 8 from my C: drive.
Error Deleting File or Folder
Make sure the disk is not full or write protected or that the file is nor currently in use.
I've had trouble opening a couple of PDF files, one that was sent to me via email (twice!) and one that I downloaded off a website. I just installed Adobe 9 and both times I get the message:
"Adobe Reader could not open *file name* because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded.)
Any suggestions? I'm computer literate but know NOTHING about programming.
