One or more Adobe PDF extensions are disabled.

My users are running Adobe Reader 8.1.2 on Windows XP and Vista machines. They are getting this message whenever they try to open a PDF file within Internet Explorer. When you check the Adobe managed add-ons in IE, they are all enabled.

One way to eliminate this prompt is to check the box under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab to enable third-party browser extensions. However our IT Security group will not allow this setting to be enabled. When we were running older versions of Adobe Reader on these machines, this popup did not occur and we did not have to enable third-party extensions for PDF files to display within IE. What has changed in version 8 that causes this to happen and what can be done to eliminate this prompt?
