I need to put the Reader on a piece of industrial equipment and space is an issue. I've used the configuration tool to remove almost all of the optional features but the install is still about 80MB. The documents that will be accessed are strictly text and graphics. The Plug Ins folder takes up about 35MB, and there's another large chunk in Help.
The Configuration Wizard allows you to remove individual files except the ones marked as "core". Unfortunately, one at a time. But I can't find anything that tells me what I can safely dump.
Deleting Help and Plug Ins as part of a post install cleanup is probably not a good solution.
The plug-ins are described (sort of) in Help > About Adobe Plugins. Of
course, each plug-in has a job and is potentially needed for some
user, some document, but by limiting user expectation and document
type you can probably made radical cuts.
