.xls files should open in Excel not Reader.
You can go to your OS help and search for file associations and learn how to change them to use Excel for .xls files.
You can also save the attachment to your hard drive first then open Excel and use File>Open to open it. If you don't have Excel, Google for the free Excel viewer and use that.
I appreaciate your info, but I know very little about computers and have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry!
In other words, the people that can open the files probably have the proper program to open that type of file and you don't.
Do you have Microsoft Excel on your computer?
Yes, I got Microsoft Excel today.
Save the file to your computer, open Excel, then in Excel go to File>Open, find the file, choose it and open it.
Does that work?
The problem is, I can't save the file. I get an error message saying Adobe Reader can't open it.
Can you let us know, step by step, how you try to save the file.
Please start by letting us know the program you are in when you try
(Internet Explorer? Outlook 2003? Outlook Express? Something else?)
I'm using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. When I click on 'download', I get the error message.
