I have seen this question before, and the answer seems to be that you
cannot get this information when using the browser control.
(Except to write a reader plug-in, subject to license, but even then
communication with the external task is difficult).

It is so very strange. While using the activeX control you can set the current page, but you don't have a getter!
It is a matter of 5 seconds to implement this getter.
I can't think of a reason not to expose this method.

One reason could be the deliberate limitation of Adobe Reader to what
is needed to just be a viewer (perhaps with external navigation). To
go further, e.g. to provide feedback to use PDF files in a more
powerful way, maybe Adobe want to sell Acrobat. Just a thought.
I reckon that you might be right.
But as side note, maybe Adobe will lose me and others as contributers for her PDF oriented solutions for other formats.
In the long run experts can tell which approach is better: a .Net like approach (no limitations upon development issues for ) or this kind of an approach.
