unable to open files
I wonder why, when I select Properties on these files, the screen
indicates that I can open them with Reader 8.1?
I don't want to buy a program just so I can read them. I guess I'll
create a restore point, delete them all, and hope for the best.
My guess is that this happened:
You (or someone) tried to open one of these files, once.
You don't have a suitable program.
So Windows asked you what to do, and gave you a list of software.
It isn't a quiz - if you get this question, don't guess....!
Anyway, if you chose Adobe Reader, Windows remembered this.
Hence, it now tries to open these files in Adobe Reader.
But it couldn't open them before and it can't now.
The question is why you have these files, but not the corresponding program, Paint Shop Pro?
My guess is that PSP was part of bloatware on my hard drive when I bought the computer. I never subscribed to it and it went away after 30 days or 90 days and somehow these pages remained behind. They maybe a users manual.
If Add/Remove Programs still shows PSP, uninstall it - it may get rid of the unneeded files, and the incorrect file association may disappear.
