Any update from Adobe yet?
We are users here. If you need an answer from Adobe you need to contact
From page 1 of:
"Customization Wizard 9 will be available soon after the release of Reader 9. Customization Wizard 8 will not work with Reader 9."
Guess we're stuck for a bit, but, sounds like it is coming. At least they posted the Ver 9 instructions, if not the program yet.
As typical, the wizard is never released as fast as you want. I have users now going and downloading 9 from Adobe....that's configured differently so that some local apps don't work. When they complain I have to remind them they've downloaded something that is non-standard to which the counter that I need to release one then.....which isn't practical because the Wizard isn't released yet.
When the boss calls and I give them the option that I could deploy without the wizard, but users will have to click Yes, Next, Continue, and OK umpteen times they don't like that.
As usual, wait on Adobe to release something that should have been released as the same time as the product.
Has anyone seen or heard about a release date for the Customization Wizard 9???
That blog post doesn't seem at all relevant. It is about Microsoft
products, not Adobe...?
Matthew, I couldn't find a way to directly contact Adobe about the Reader customization wizard (wihtout paying) so I sent in an enhancemnet request. To my surprise, I got a reply. It basically stated what has been said here about it being released 'shortly' after the release of v9 reader and also that the current v8 customization wizard won't work with v9 reader. That was 2 weeks ago, so who knows when this will actually be released.
Bump. Any new news?
Two things you can do to make sure you learn the news as soon as possible:
1) Subscribe to the Adobe PDF IT Matters RSS feed: http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/atom.xml
2) Create a Google Alert: http://www.google.com/alerts
I, too, wait with baited breath. I'd like to distribute Acrobat via Group Policy.
I've got some detail about creating a custom transform for Reader 9 here: http://blog.stealthpuppy.com/deployment/deploying-adobe-reader-9-for-windows
There is an email link there about testing the v9 wizard.
It's here! I received the following link from Adobe Tech Support as I had opened a case regarding deploying Acrobat Pro 9 across the network:
Awesome news. Thanks all!
