One of the following
(a) this is a new file pretending to be the Adobe Reader 7.0.9
installer (if you didn't get it from Adobe's site)
(b) the file was infected on your machine
(c) this is a "false positive". These are a common problem with
anti-virus, you need to realise they are based on guesswork. Let AVG
Where from and when did you download the file from?
I have gotten the same error, seen numerous computers pop up box that states adobe reader updates are available and downloaded the update. The scan found it today.
Why in the world would Adobe Reader 7.0.9 appear as an update at this
time. Makes no sense. Adobe hasn't updated Reader 7 in ages. Methinks
there is a virus or spyware that is masquerading as Reader or a Reader
AFAIK, downloads from Adobe are digitally signed (the EN version of Reader
On Windows, don't know about other systems, the signature can be verified
with right-click/ "Properties"/ Digital signatures" tab/ select the
signature/ click "Details". If it's not there, or if it does not verify,
then you can be reasonably sure the file is a fake. (The only reson I

unless you have a rootkit on your system that manages to hide the
modifications it did to the file.
Thank you all for your help
I appologize my english is not perfect
but when AVG found this file I do not go to try to click on it ... so I cannot give any info about signature...
@ Mike Kazlow
Sorry, I total forgot to verify the date of this file... I'm sure I do not ask for an update of ADOBE READER recently... normally I charge this typ of file only on Adobe site, never on various web site... but it's possible I got it from a sit who never asked before to share it...
Why Adobe could not make any mystake ?
I check the file into my virus vault just yet
No way to see signature or date or any further info... or I would have to restore it and I do not want to restore it... I just sent it yet to AVG for analyse...
I just note something, before to opened this thread in forum I tried to contact Adobe support... it was close and I cannot contact them...
I will survey my computer in the next day... possible another files would be infected...
Thank you again
