I'm making a new image for my organisation and want too use Reader 9 as the default PDF reader.
Only thing is when I log in the first time as a managed user Reader wants too install additional stuff
that need Admin rights? (not something you want in a managed environment)
Second, when I proceed by filling in the admin and Adobe installs it's things the application crashes after finishing.

I am suffering the same scenario except the server is not 10.5.4, instead 10.4.11. The client is nearly identical. I can resolve the issue if I am a local admin, but a local account requires an admin password. If the local non-admin clicks cancel. The application attempts to load but really doesn't properly - ne menu etc. and that must be force quit.
