I have many PDF files downloaded from my bank and other similar sources providing me with records of my accounts that I once read, but that the Reader cannot open any more. I get a message "Adobe Reader could not open **file X*** because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged."
Most of these files were saved in 2006 and early 2007. Is there is some reason that my new Adobe Reader (version 8) cannot read old PDF files?
If the files are damaged, is there some way to fix them, as there is in some software programs?
Note: All these files were generated elsewhere, downloaded, and read after being downloaded.
I would probably scan your computer for spyware/adware and virus type junk too. It's amazing that some programs on my computer do strange things at times and after I scan and clean it they work fine again. It might not be your problem but I'd try it if I were you just to check.
