    Reader taking over .doc pages

Really strange problem. After installing Reader 9.0 on WinXP home sp2, It will not allow MS Word to open when double clicking a .doc file. Anyone have this problem?

What happens when you double-click on a .doc file? If you get an
error message, please paste it into your query. It would also help
to know what version of Word you're trying to use.

Have a look at Control panel > Folder options > File types and
scroll down to DOC. This should be shown as a Microsoft Word
document. Click the Advanced button, select Open in the Actions pane
and click Edit. What does it say in the 'Application used to perform
          action' box?
