Where do those MPEG files come from? Capture? Import?
Thanks for your reply. The MPEG files are coming from my camera.
JVC HD Everio Hybrid - GZ-HD6.. It records to raw format .TOD with support files of .MOI (If that helps any...)
In CS3 all I needed to do is rename the .TOD to .MPG and import.
And that worked.. but no such luck w/ CS4.
Mmh, the evil MediaCore strikes again, I'd say. It's just weird that the alleged improvements would render older functionality inert. Have you tried clearing out the media cache and importing again? Perhaps it's just a hiccup with the indexing. Also: Does the file import in Premiere (if you use it)?. Beyond that I'm at a loss - there's simply too many variations of MPEG these days to try them all. If you could provide a short 3-10 second snippet somewhere for download, I would be willing to investigate, though.
Yes, I have cleared the media cache (even tho it a whole new system, first thing ever done in CS4)..
Thanks for your help - Here's a test file for download.
(Available for 7 Days or 100 downloads)
Thanks. I'll take a look at it later today back at home. Too busy now here at work. ;-)
I'm afraid you're out of luck. The file does not load in any of my versions of AE on PC and a conversion seems inevitable - if it is even possible, as except for VLC non of the tools I had handy would play it correctly. What info I could dig up would indicate that it may be using an incorrect profile level and thus is not recognized properly. It does not load in Premiere, either, so it's something serious, for sure. I have not yet checked on Mac. I've informed "the powers" and made them aware of the situation, but in the meantime you will have to find a different way of dealing with the problem, I'm afraid. Sorry.
Thanks for your help with this. I have done some tests myself, and on 1 of 3 PCs (2 Windows 2008 server.. 1 vista ultimate x64bit).
On the Vista Ultimate, in AE CS4.. All we had to do is rename the .MPG to .AVI and it imported fine, but on the others it did not work.
- With this.. I'm thinking it has to be a Codec issue.
I found a work around on the MAC as well, I Opened the .TOD in MPEG Streamclip and converted it to "MPEG with MP2 Audio" and that file imports into AE CS4 with no problems.
Hmm.. Thanks again.
