I've created a rather complex path within photoshop/illustrator. I copied that path and pasted it into after effects as a layer mask for a solid white layer. The layer mask is supposed to be vector, but if I scale up the solid layer I start to see blurry edges.
Is there any way to convert the mask layer to an after effects shape layer? Or, is there any way to scale a mask without losing the crisp lines of a vector shape?
To create shape layer based on an existing mask, simply copy/paste the mask shape keyframe onto a shape layer. You may need to create a keyframe on the mask layer, and you'll need to create a 'dummy' shape layer.
To scale up and have crisp lines, simply enable continuous rasterization (change the switch from / to *)
There's a script from Jeff Almasol that automates such conversions. Can't remember exactly, but it's either on his personal site http://www.redefinery.com, http://www.aenhancers.com or on Adobe Exchange...
