Have to relink tga sequences one reload

    alwinch
I find that every time I reopen a project I have to relink all my image sequences. Doesn't occur with any other media, just photo sequences. Any ideas?

      Thanks so much.

On what type of drive and what sort of directory are the images placed? Sounds like issues with removable drives.

the files are on the same drive as the rest of the files used in the project. An internal drive , not removable. Thanks

Mmh, that's strange. What operating system and which program is generating the image sequences? How long are they and how is their numbering? I could imagine that either there are too many images in one folder, the number padding is incorrect or that you have a more generic permission/ concurrent folder access problem.

Thanks for taking the time...the images are generated by particle illusion using their numbering system. Images are around 100 frames long. Numbering is kind of odd. fileName[0100-0200]I can't reload so I use replace and it links it back up again.

Mmh, this should definitely work. I never had such issues with PI-generated seqs. That aside, I'm working with sequences in the thousands regularly, so there's certainly no problem with only a few hundred images. I could only imagine that AE frowns on the numbering Not starting out with zero... Could you try renumbering them, e.g. via XnView's batch processing and see if the problem remains?

Hi Myl...after much reinstalling and testing the problem is with Media core. If I disable mediacore(just by renaming)install AE with the supplied plugins then everything works as it should. Of course AE can't find my 3rd party plugins that are only in the Media core file. I also tried removing the AE suppiled effects from the media core and only having the third party stuff in media core and leaving the supplied effects in AE but that still doesnt work. So unless it is one certain plugin in the Media core ( which would be impossible to find) I need to find a way to repair media core or reinstall all my plugins to AE directly and not use mediacore...not a pleasent task

Do you have any non-A-Z characters in the names of drives, folders or file sequences?

Doesn't sound like a MediaCore problem (since that is an integral part of AE and shouldn't be disabled.)

Thank you all for your help. I realized it all came down to a plugin believe it or not. There was a plugin in file formats that related to Photoshop and image sequences in that. Don't know how or why that screwed up AE, but after the arduous task of tracking it down it seems to have done the trick. I will gladly buy a cup of coffee to anyone at Adobe who figures out how to upgrade and not have to reinstall all 3D party pugins. I don't care what the number, reinstalling Plugins ain't no "party". Thanks again,
