What version of AE, what computer and what operating system? There is a number of occasions where you get a "crash on exit", but without even knowing the specs, any speculation is pointless.
Here is some spec. of my computer:
After Effects CS4, Operating system XP SP 3, Intel P4 3 GHz, 2 mb RAM, Geforce 7600 GS 512 mb
>Intel P4 3 GHz
Possibly that in combination with your 2GB RAM. On some older systems, some routines will not unload fast enough, causing a lag that triggers a crash. Could of course also be something with OpenGL textures not unloading on your graphics card. Does it crash when you disable OpenGL? and is AE updated with the 9.0.1 patch? some of those crashes have been adrdessed in it...
Thanks for your engagement. You have presumably right in OPEN GL.
Earlier I have problem with changíng of value with an Effect (Radial Blur). When I try to change the amount with the mouse I get the message:
After Effects error: AE_Open GL: A texture in this composition is too small to render. Switching to adaptive resolution mode (5065::0).
After this message After Effect crash.
When I remove the Plug-In Open GL from the system folder the problem disappear.
My videocard supported OpenGL 2.0. I have the 9.0.1 patch.
Don't worry about not being able to use OpenGL in After Effects, it only helps performance in some special cases such as repositioning many 3D layers. Most pro's keep OpenGL turned off in AE and only turn it on when it will improve performance in these special cases.
