As I'm sure many of you have gotten the tool farm email, the mega set of Gen Arts Sapphire plug-in are on sale for $1000.

How many of you have used them? Do you think it's worth getting? How do they compare to the Tinderboxes?

This is a fabulous set of tools. If you have a client base that would be impressed and would be willing to pay for these kinds of effects they can be a good investment because you will save some time. If you are just looking for a bunch of new looks then you will have to decide for yourself whether or not you are willing to drop $1K on a new toy.

Your ROI depends on how fast your are and what your billable rate is. No plug-in is a one click solution for a higher hourly rate.

If you have the money and clients, it's definitely worth buying. While, just like with any big suite, there is a lot of redundant effects, some others will make up for that. And performance and speed are generally very good, so you may even find yourself favoring Sapphire's redundant effects over the ones that come with AE. Of course the latter is a matter of getting used to and will require you to adapt your workflow, but it would be worth the effort, especially since when you jump on the train now, you avoid that high hurdle of an initial investment and upgrades will be an affordable thing....
